Once again, Brian and I are alone in this big ol’ house, this time unexpectedly and suddenly!Eddie Vetter from Cascade was feeling quite ill the last few weeks, and upon tests with doctors in Uyo, they decided he had better leave the country to get adequate treatment.The doctors met and consulted together, and felt that it would be wisest for Eddie Vetter to go to the nearest first world hospital; they were not quite up....

On the first of April, Anna and I decided to try our hand at baking. In 2000 Eddie Vetter from Cascade and his son, Cameron, made a big wood oven from scratch. They welded it together, fashioning it after one they saw that Nigerian bakers used to bake. It has two racks inside and you make a fire under it. Anna says they got to use it once before they left for home.
First we lit the fire under the oven, assuring that we had big logs. We measured our ing....

…..For now! Ed and Judy are out of here by tomorrow, God willing, they will be safely at home in Crystal Springs on April the 14^th. Ed Vetter says this was his shortest stay in Palmgrove yet, having been here for the 8^th time; his longest stay was around 7 – 8 months. I recall Lance’s blog in 2006- the one where he said that Ed is leaving for home too and he doesn’t know what he would do without him. The food is something to get used to over here. If you thought I had a problem getting up for breakfast at home, here it is even less tempting. In the communal dinning area breakfast can vary from 7:00 am to 8:00 am to not at all. And then breakfast it is (bread and tea) on one day and (beans and water) the nest day. I can't survive on a slice of bread till 1:00 and so Judy Basel sometimes makes something when we get back from breakfast. We are up to 6 now, Eddie and Anna from Cascade arrived a little over two weeks ago. It's nice to have more people like ourselves around. The black company, while entertaining and friendly does sometimes get a bit too much with their always wanting something.
